WHAT IS MSME REGISTRATION


MSME stands for micro, small and medium enterprises and any enterprise that falls under any of these three categories. MSME enterprises are the backbone of any economy and are an engine of economic growth, promoting equitable development for all. Therefore, to support and promote MSMEs, the Government of India through various subsidies, schemes and incentives promote MSMEs through the MSMED Act. To avail the benefits under the MSMED Act from Central or State Government and the Banking Sector, MSME Registration is required.

Micro, small and medium sized enterprises in both the manufacturing and service sector can obtain MSME Registration under the MSMED Act. Though the MSME registration is not statutory, it is beneficial for business at it provides a range of benefits such as eligibility for lower rates of interest, excise exemption scheme, tax subsidies, power tariff subsidies, capital investment subsidies and other support.   Cheaper bank loans: The rate of interest on loan offered to MSMEs is 1-1.5% lower compared to typical business loan interest

  • Easy access to credit: PM Modi has introduced the Mudhra Loan scheme, which provides loans to MSME / SSI without collaterals
  • Quicker approvals from state and central government bodies: Business registered under MSME are given higher preference in terms of government license and certification
  • Tax Rebates: MSME / SSI registered businesses enjoy multiple income taxes and capital gains tax subsidies from the government
  • Cheaper Infrastructure: Charges are lower for MSME registered company for facilities such as electricity and VAT exemptions. In fact, other business services such as patents are also cheaper for MSMEs

MSME Data Bank has facility for registration of three type of organizations, namely:

  1. MSME – This registration is for Individual MSME Units.
  2. Association – This link is for registration of Industry Associations.
  3. MSME Development Organizations – This link is for registration of various organizations under Ministry of MSME, like DC-MSME, NSIC, KVIC, Coir Board, MGIRI, NIMSME, etc.

Please register only under the appropriate category applicable to you; else your registration will be treated as invalid.

Aadhaar Number, Udyog Aadhaar Number & PAN are mandatorily required for registration on MSME DataBank. You cannot register on MSME Data Bank without these. Please see the detailed guidelines provided on MSME Data Bank homepage for more details.

You have been already registered in MSME Data Bank. You will receive an e-mail with your login credentials using which you can view & update your information.

While registering on MSME Data Bank we are not allowing duplicate registration with PAN (except in the case of Proprietor Unit). In case you have more than one units, you can add their details later from your dashboard. Login credentials to the dashboard will be sent on your registered e-mail ID shortly.

The fields which we are fetching from Udyog Aadhaar Data are not editable since it will lead to mismatch between data of Udyog Aadhaar & MSME DataBank. You can proceed with entering the other information about your enterprise in the fields provided.
